Summer Musings
I've never been much of an outdoor enthusiast, having always lived in urban settings and having always preferred to immerse myself in intellectual pursuits amidst the comforts of city and suburban life. But I recently returned from a solo hiking trip in Quebec and it was transformative.
What a gift it was to fill my lungs with fresh mountain air, to feast my eyes on unspoiled forests and to be serenaded by birdsongs and waterfalls. And my brain was inundated with a multitude of decisions that it's never had to make. Things like deciding where to place my next step on a root-tangled path or how to safely navigate scree forced me to slow down and be fully present. Stepping into scenes of breathataking beauty in the middle of a virgin forest, I marvelled at the ingenuity and unending creativity of nature. Scenes that were shaped long before I arrived on this planet and scenes that I hope will continue to nourish countless more generations long after I am gone.
New Kindermusik Class for Fall 2024
With nearly 1.5 months to go before the new schoolyear begins, we have only 1 spot left in our Sunday classes. So I've decided to open up another Kindermusik Mixed Ages class on Saturdays, 11.35 am. This class is perfect for babies - 3.5 year olds and families as well. If you've been on one of our waitlists, now is your chance to enrol. If you're already enrolled, help spread the word to your friends! Classes begin Sept 7.
One of My Favourite Things (2024 - 2025 edition)
I am absolutely thrilled to be incorporating a lot more programming geared at supporting parents like yourself including our brand-new Tuesday Night Book Club that is open to every family enrolled in either our Kindermusik or Piano programme. I love how books open up new ways of understanding and facilitating a book club is a dream come true for a bibliophile like myself. The book I've chosen for our first-ever Book Club is Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids by Dr Laura Markham. Dr Laura has been a source of wisdom and inspiration for me for a number of years and I had the privilege of training with her to become a Peaceful Parent educator earlier this year. I'm looking forward to sharing her amazing work with Thrive families and diving into more meaningful conversations in the coming year.
Scenes from La Belle Province
I can't resist sharing some of the pictures I took during my trip. I hope they make your day a little brighter and I hope that your spirits are uplifted with these summery days. À bientôt!
